Langkawi Beaches
The magical archipelago of Langkawi is known to possess some of the best beaches around the world. Langkawi beaches are spread throughout the main islands. The pristine white sands and the abundance of the sea breeze make Langkawi beaches famous. There is no overcrowding in the beaches and most of the beaches are open throughout the year. Suggested months of visit would be from November to February though there is a motley crowd during the summer months too soaking the sun in. The monsoon months are better avoided in Langkawi since the rains can be hard and unpredictable too. The water during the rainy season becomes murky and is not good for swimming. Overall, however Langkawi holds the traveler spellbound with its magical beaches and natural surroundings.
While in Langkawi it is worth visiting some of the more popular beaches that are dotting the islands. First, you have the Pantai Cenang Beach. This beach is famous for its beach road. This important road is lined with a number of shops selling souvenirs and fashion related merchandise though there are a number of general merchandise shops also sprinkled fairly in between. The sand in Pantai Cenang is unique. The white sand will not cling on to you as you stroll around or lie down for that awe-inspiring tan. Conveniently located near the airport and on the outskirts of Kuah The Pantai Cenang beach is covered with a number of coconut palms and casuarina trees that go on to add to the beauty of the place.
Move on to the Pantai Tengah Beach. Just next to Pantai Cenang beach, you can take a taxi or bus that frequent this place from all over Langkaw. It is a much calmer place with less people coming this far from Pantai Cenang. Pantai Tengah is not a safe place to go swimming if you really want to because of the abundance of jellyfish in the waters. The beach changes into a great nightlife zone in the evening at sunset. A number of bands and bars come up and you can enjoy the ambience with great food being served by the beachfront restaurants.
For loads of peace and solitude, you can visit the Pantai Kok Beach located about 25 km from Kuah and is easily accessible by good a service network of taxis and buses coming from the island. The peaceful area surrounding the Pantai Kok beach is sufficient to attract honeymooners and couples wanting their private space. The beach also houses the unique replica of the Thai Palace also known as the Summer Palace.
Finally ensure a visit to Tanjung Rhu Beach. This beach is a great place for young couples and lovers since there is virtually no prying eyes and other disturbances around. You can take your own time in understanding each other as the swaying casuarinas cast their magical spell on you. The amazing tranquility remains one of the most magical features of the Tanjung Rhu beach.
